AYERS FOUNDATION FARM-TO-SCHOOL FUNDRAISER NIGHT APRIL 30
TUESDAY NIGHT... APRIL 30 Starting at 6:00, on this night, come on out to help support the AYERS FOUNDATION's Farm-To-School program. Perks & Corks will be hosting the evening and donating a portion of the sales to this wonderful program. Also participating and donating to the evening, are HILLANDALE FARM along with MAIZE 'N MANNA (40 High St. in downtown Westerly) who will be donating healthy light snack foods, PLUS the singer-songwriter Will Houlihan will be providing live music for the soul.
Recently, the EAST WEST FARM in Charlestown RI was purchased from Mr. Will Sheridan, the original owner of 20 years by a neighbor who has agreed to lease it to the Ayers Foundation on the premise of farming it organically and having it woven into the FARM-TO-SCHOOL program. In collaboration with HILLANDALE FARM, the foundation's goal is to produce nearly 15,000 pounds of organic produce over three years for area school cafeterias. Help set the precedent and de facto standard for community resilience and wellness wherever educational institutions exist. Farm-To-School is a concept designed around getting more locally grown food into school cafeterias while helping teach children the benefits of growing and consuming farm-fresh food within the same community.
